The NYSC Foundation
The NYSC Foundation is essentially an expression of the resolve of a group of former ex-Corps Members and public-spirited Nigerians to assist the Federal Government in sustaining the NYSC Scheme and improving the quality and content of its impact on the lives of our Youths. It is also to help our youths realize their potentials through the provision of employment and capacity building programmes.
The Foundation is an independent initiative and it is non-governmental, officially registered under part C of the Companies and Allied Matters Act 1990.
Prior to the launching of the Foundation on the 4th of June, 1998, there was an aggressive multi media publicity campaign introducing the Foundation and its objectives to the Nigerian public.
In order to handle the volume of work generated by the public’s expressed interest in membership subscription and request for more information, a standard functional secretariat was opened at plot 1607 Adeola Hopewell Street, Victoria Island, Lagos. The Secretariat was donated and equipped by Industrial and General Insurance (IGI) Ltd. More than 90% of the financial burden of the Foundation was borne by IGI whose Executive Vice Chairman is the Chairman of the NYSC Foundation Board of Trustees.
